Man Found Near Curb With Gunshot Wound In Newburgh

The City of Newburgh Police responding to a "shot spotter" activation found a man near a curb with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The incident took place around 4:25 a.m. Friday in the area of Johnston and Campbell streets, said City of Newburgh Police Det. Lt. Joseph Burns.

The unidentified man was transported to St. Luke’s hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, Burns said.

The City of Newburgh Police Department’s ‘non-fatal shooting task force’, consisting of a City of Newburgh detective, Orange County District Attorney investigator, and a crime analyst, is investigating this incident with the assistance of the A.T.F. and the Town of New Windsor Police Department, he added.
